this is something for people who are having problems with eye colours. i did small tuts for the most popular eye shades (have ideas for different shades? just tell :) ). again i used picture of emily browning. we go from this (x) to this (x) or this (x), or this (x), or this (x).
BLUE EYES:
1. all eye paint with some kind of blue colour, for example this one #B8EDFF. set it as 'hue' at 60% (x).
2. with this #FEE4B7 paint sort of a circle near to the center of the eye, change the blending mode into 'soft light', 80% (x).
3. copy this layer and with the eraser tool remove parts far from the center, leave only small circle. set it as 'overlay' 48% (x).
4. with this colour #FFDADA paint small dot with a soft brush near to the center on the right side. set it as 'soft light' 70% (x).
5. in the same corner paint another dot, with this colour #E9B393, and set it as 'color burn', leave the opacity as it is, or lower it as you wish (x).
tips:
1. you can leave point 4, as it's only for giving eye more dreamy look. also you can leave point 5, because it's looking good only on eyes, which are nicely visible.
2. you can change the opacity of the first layer, for making eye more blueish or lower it for some unstandard, but nice colours.
3. in dark eyes, or on images with dark greyscale, you can duplicate the layers with yellow and set it twice as soft light and then as overlay. on light eyes however, always lower the opacities of those layers.
BROWN EYES:
1. all eye paint with white, set it as 'colour' 45% (x).
2. and again, paint highlights around the center of an eye with #FFE8C5, set it as 'soft light' at 100% (x).
3. add another small highlights with the same colour, set it as 'overlay' 100% (x).
4. at this point you can leave it as it is, or have a little fun with it, for example add some dots with #C5EDFF, set it as 'color burn' 100% (x).
or add some dots in #BCF0B9, and again setting it as 'colour burn' 100% (x).
try to have fun with different colors :)
tips:
1. you can change the settings of the second layer into 'overlay', but in that case, remember to higher opacity of the first one.
2. when you higher opacity of the first layer you'll get nice grey eye colour.
3. on dark images, you can double second layer, setting both as 'soft light' or as 'overlays' (of course at smaller opacities). in those cases remember also to change the opacity of the first, white layer, into higher value.
4. you can change colour of yellow layers, into light grey tones. it will make eyes look more cool.
5. point #4 is totally optional and is looking good only on images where eye are well seen.
GRAY EYES:
1. paint all eye with white, and set it as 'colour' at 100%
(x).
2. duplicate this layer and with 'eraser tool', remove parts far from the center of the eye. set it as 'overlay' 85%
(x).
3. with this #FFE5E2 paint smooth circle near to the center - set it as 'soft light' 51% (x).
4. as in step 3, with this color #FFE5C6 paint another circle near to the center and the bottom. set it as 'soft light' 100% (x).
tips:
1. remember that second point is only looking good on images with nice quality and not too light. on different images, change 'overlay' into 'soft light', or lower the opacity.
2. when you lower the opacity of the first grey layer, you'll receive some nice brown tones .
GREEN EYES:
1. paint all eye with #A9EDA5 or common. set it as 'hue', 35% (x).
2. with #FFEBBA, as usual, paint soft circle around the center of the eye. set it as 'soft light' 100% (x).
3. duplicate this layer and remove parts far from the center, leaving only small highlights. leave the blending mode and opacity as it is (x).
4. with #E9B393 paint some dots near to the center and mostly on the upper side of the eye. set it as 'color burn' at 58% (x).
tips:
1. for warmer shade, paint all eye with #E9B393 and set it as 'hue' at 30 or 40%. for cooler shade, paint all eye with blue and set it as 'saturation', or with greys, setting them as 'color' at 50-60%.
2. second layer you can set as 'overlay', what will make the eye more bright and sparkle, but it will also warm the shade.
3. you can leave the last point, or replace it with some kind of gray color, for making the eye looking more plain.
